For over 25 years, Mr. Sinopoli has worked extensively on projects involving the configuration and optimization of building technology systems and networks. Mr. Sinopoli is the Managing Principal of Smart Buildings, which provides engineering and consulting services for the design and operation of integrated building technology systems. The firm has experience in the healthcare, corporate, education, manufacturing, finance, construction and government industry sectors. His clients have included Fortune 100 corporations, major school districts, university systems, airports and ports, national government agencies, large private and public hospitals, technology companies, and nationwide developers. His international experience includes projects in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, South America and Africa. United States federal clients have included the Internal Revenue Service and the US Postal Service. Mr. Sinopoli's educational credits include a B.S. in Engineering from Purdue University and a M.A. in Applied Science and Management from Governor's State University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer, an Accredited LEED Professional and a Registered Communications Distribution Designer. Mr. Sinopoli is Chairmen of the Continental Automation Buildings Association’s Task Force on Industry Training and Education. Mr. Sinopoli has spoken on numerous occasions at conferences and seminars focusing on high technology issues, including AIA, BOMA, Builconn, Realcomm, BICSI and CEFPI conferences. He is a contributing editor for the web site AutomatedBuildings.com, and has written for many industry publications worldwide. Mr. Sinopoli has received the international “Harry J. Pfister” award from the Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI). His most recent publication is a book titled “Smart Buildings”.

Barry Giles is the founder and CEO of BuildingWise and has been associated with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) since 2002. As CEO of BuildingWise, Barry is responsible for setting the direction of the company, executing on that strategy and leading the organization to achieve its annual goals and objectives. A LEED Accredited Professional since 2004, Barry's background in construction, facilities management, and the LEED program gives him the perfect combination to lead the effort to upgrade built environments into more energy efficient and high-performance buildings. Barry is the past Chairman for the USGBC Curriculum Committee, is on the LEED-EB Core Committee and was a board member of the Northern California Chapter of the USGBC. As the Senior LEED-EB Faculty Emeritus, Barry has taught over 2,500 people on the subject of LEED for existing buildings. Barry brings more than 25 years of worldview sustainability and operations to BuildingWise from his work in Europe, the Middle East, and the Caribbean. Now deeply rooted in California, Barry has spent the last six years working on his own self-built eco-friendly house where he lives with his wife and seven-year old son. Mr. Winters was the first, and remains one of the few, LEED-accredited financial professionals. He is contributing author to two ULI textbooks including “Professional Real Estate Development: The ULI Guide to the Business” and “Green Office Buildings: A Practical Guide to Development”, has authored numerous trade journal articles on green building finance, and served as special advisor to Building Design & Construction’s white paper “Green Buildings and the Bottom Line”. As a green building finance expert, he has been a keynote speaker and/or panelist at industry events across North America including the ULI’s national conferences on sustainability, Canadian Real Estate Forum, Greenbuild, ULI / NAIOP / USGBC regional conferences, the Green Building Alliance, BetterBricks, Cascadia Northwest, NAREC, Canada USGBC, and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston among many others. He is a member of the Gerson Lehrman Group Real Estate Council and is the past Vice Chairman of the Board for the USGBC Baltimore Chapter. In addition, he was a member of the District of Columbia Mayor’s Green Building Task Force which worked to successfully pass the DC Green Building Act. He is the primary author of the Capital Markets Partnership’s Green Building Underwriting Standard and originated the CMP Green Score criteria for asset underwriting which incorporates green building attributes into investment banking origination and rating agency underwriting processes. He was formerly a member of the Real Estate Private Equity Group at the Frank Russell Company which manages or consults to over $2.5 trillion in investments and is one of the largest institutional pension fund consulting firms in the world. While at Russell, Mr. Winters developed qualitative and quantitative assessments of numerous real estate private equity management firms regarding investment strategies, vehicle structure, management team quality, and overall execution capabilities while placing in excess of $650 million in client capital. He was a voting member of the Russell Real Estate Operating Committee and provided internal institutional portfolio management including real estate strategy, portfolio reallocation, and investment manager selection to various Russell real estate funds. Following Russell, he was Founder/CEO of a venture-capital backed internet e-commerce company which was an early entrant into the fast-growing internet arena in the late-90’s. In addition, he worked at one of the largest real estate finance and investment intermediaries, the top-producing office of CBRE / LJ Melody in Washington, DC, which did in excess of $2 billion in debt and equity financings in 2004/05. He earned his Masters in Real Estate Finance and Development from Harvard Graduate School of Design an MBA from Southern Methodist University, and a BS in Consumer Behavior from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland’s Real Estate Development program instructing a graduate practicum course on sustainability, and is a guest speaker at Georgetown University.

Steve is a Senior Director at Fireman's Fund Insurance Company in Novato California, responsible for development of innovative new products, services and information for emerging industries. He joined Fireman's Fund in 2004, bringing more than 30 years of insurance industry experience having held underwriting, marketing and management positions in a number of companies. In 2006 he developed the first Green Building Insurance Coverage in the industry. Steve has spoken on the unique risks of green buildings and sustainable business at several conferences including NEOCON (2006, 2007, 2008), GreenBuild (2006 and 2007), Ceres, TFM, UCLA, University of Wisconsin, Ohio State, Green$ense, Greening the Heartland, World Wildlife Fund Climate Savers Summit (2009) and BOMA. He was recently elected to the USGBC Redwood Empire Chapter Board of Directors. He also serves on the Steering Committee of the California Sustainability Alliance, the Advisory Board of the Green California Summit, the UL Environmental Advisory Council and the Allianz Climate Change Center of Competency.

Matthew Rader is Director of Cost Segregation Services and 179D Green Building Tax Deduction Certification for SourceCorp. He has over ten years of experience specific to cost segregation and valuation and has performed a wide range of studies in industries that include Distribution, Financial Services, Healthcare, High Tech, Hospitality, Manufacturing, Offices, Real Estate, Retailing, Restaurants and Waste Disposal. Rader has successfully supported his cost segregation work in Maryland, Texas, Massachusetts, Utah, New York and New Jersey. This support was for both recently constructed facilities and property acquisitions. He has lectured on Cost Segregation and other tax issues for several chapters of the American Society of CPA’s, Certified Financial Planners, and the North Carolina Association of CPA’s. Rader began his Cost Segregation career at Arthur Andersen and continued this area of specialization when he joined KPMG. While there, he formulated tax-oriented strategies, provided acquisition due diligence and corresponded with federal and state taxing authorities. Additionally, he performed machinery and equipment valuation, predominant use studies, and assisted in the allocations of major projects involving public and private funds, one of which for a major professional sports arena. Rader is also a published author with articles in major periodicals. Prior to Cost Segregation, Rader’s background was in construction science. He received a Bachelor’s in Science in Construction Science from Texas A&M University and upon graduation worked as a consultant specializing in cost reviews, due diligence, construction monitoring and representation of banks and investors on real estate development and construction loans.

Jessica Black Kennedy has served as the director of Brightworks’ San Francisco office since 2007, which manages over 40 green building projects in the Bay Area. She has taught numerous LEED training and sustainability-based workshops to audiences in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Portland and Seattle. Jessica has been invited to conduct several presentations including a Sustainability Visioning Workshop for the City of Seattle’s Department of Planning and Development, “Value Proposition of Green Buildings” to Essex Property Trust, “LEED Project Management Process” to Cisco Systems and has been on panels for The Clean Tech Institute, the Structural Engineering Association of Northern California (SEAONC), Urban Land Institute (ULI), West Coast Green and others. Jessica continues to study classical piano with her professor from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in her spare time.

He has been involved in mergers, acquisitions, construction and project financing assignments in the non-utility generation, renewables, gas and electric, emissions credits, rural cooperatives, energy and emissions trading, and manufacturing industries. Some of these transactions involve acquisitions, debt restructurings or project financings for some of the largest undertakings in the United States involving these industries, with a composite value exceeding $14 billion. He is national co-chair of the American Bar Association Renewable Energy Resources Committee for the 2008-2009 year, and ABA Vice Chair of the Committee on Energy & Environmental Finance. Birk Jones is a Civil Engineer living in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Having studied energy efficiency techniques and technologies at the University of New Mexico while earning a master’s degree in Construction Engineering, he now teaches a class at UNM on energy efficient building retrofits. With over eight years of experience designing and building commercial and residential buildings, Birk is committed to improving how energy is used in existing buildings.His professional career has included corporate strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, and management consulting in strategic services at KPMG. In the area of strategic valuation, Dr. Frigo has served as a valuation expert for organizations ranging from privately-held companies to larger organizations such as the Chicago Board of Trade. The author of six books and over 75 articles, his work is published in leading business journals including Harvard Business Review. He is the editor of the Strategic Management section of Strategy Finance and lecturers frequently at universities and conferences in Europe. He is the co-creator of the Return Driven Strategy framework (with Joel Litman) which describes the strategic activities of high performance companies. His current research and consulting focus on: Strategy and Corporate Governance at High Performance Companies; Linking Strategy with Performance Measures, Executive Compensation at High Performance Companies and Strategic Risk Management and ERM. He is the co-author with Joel Litman of the book Driven: Business Strategy, Human Actions and the Creation of Wealth (www.returndriven.com).
